Residents urged to stay away from cold, fast-flowing Truckee River

With the high amount of rain and snow we've received this year, it's definitely not the time to head down to the Truckee River with an inner tube or inflatable.

While we are still below flood stage, the river is flowing at about 4 times its average rate. The Carson River is as well.

On top of that, warm temperatures may lead you to think the water would be warm as well -- that's not the case. Water this cold would kill you in about 1-3 hours.
