Janete Weinstein is a Mark Twain award-winning journalist who joined the News 4 & Fox 11 team as a news reporter in October of 2022.

She was born in Brasília, Brazil and came to the U.S. as an international high school transfer student in San Jose, CA graduating from their esteemed baccalaureate program and proceeded to college as a "trilingual" threat. Janete has a strong bond with the Portuguese and Spanish-speaking communities.

She found her passion for journalism at a young age when she became a contributor for the children’s column at a major Brazilian newspaper.

She attended California State University Northridge where she received her B.A. in broadcast journalism from the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media, and Communication and a minor in sociology.

Her journalism career started as an intern at CNBC in Los Angeles and since then she's been reporting on stories about social justice issues, business, immigration, health, sports and entertainment.

Before moving to northern Nevada, she worked for over a decade as an international correspondent for major Brazilian TV and digital networks, covering everything from sports to politics that happened in California.

Besides her passion for journalism, Janete loves photography, music, traveling, outdoors activities and a good book. She is a big fan of stand-up comedy and enjoys spending time with her family and six rescue pets.
