Owen takes lead into final round at Barracuda Championship

Long time PGA Tour pro Greg Owen will take a five point lead into Sunday's action at the Barracuda Championship

After nearly 400 appearances on the PGA Tour, Greg Chalmers won the 2016 Barracuda Championship. The 2017 is setting up for a similar theme.

Longtime pro Greg Owen tallied 14 points on Saturday to take the lead into the final round. The 45-year-old Englishman has not won on the PGA Tour over the span of 264 career appearances.

He was on his way to the round of the tournament at 17 points, but faltered on 18 finished with double bogey. Despite the miscue, his 37 point total gives him a five point cushion going in to Sunday where he will try to hold off the rest of the field including Stuart Appleby who is tied for 2nd with 32 points.

Appleby, another veteran, has won nearly 30 million dollars in his career on the PGA Tour with nine wins, but is searching for his first since the Greenbriar Classic in 2010.

Play has been moved up to a 7:30 a.m. start due to afternoon weather concerns. The final group is slated to go out at 9:30.
