Nevada football announces nine more signings on National Signing Day

The Nevada football team announced the signings today of nine more players. The 2018 class now stands at 25 players, and Coach Norvell says he expects to add a few more in the coming weeks. Below are break downs of the nine players announced, including two local walk-ons, courtesy of Nevada Athletics.

Trey Hamilton: 6'4, 265 lb freshman offensive lineman from Reno High. Lineman who played both ways in high school ... Helped lead Reno to 12-2 mark overall as a senior in 2017 ... Projects as an offensive lineman with the Pack.

Jermaine Ledbetter: 6-5, 325 lb sophomore transfer offensive lineman. Florida native played one season at Coffeyville (Kans.) CC and has three years of eligibility at Nevada … Was a tackle at Boca Ciega High School in Gulfport, Fla., before moving inside to guard at Coffeyville … Also had offer from Kansas and Kansas State.

Tristan Nichols: 6-4, 300 lb junior transfer defensive lineman. Originally from Maui, transferred to play football and basketball at St. Louis School in Honolulu as a senior … Chose Nevada over offers from Oregon State, Hawai`i and New Mexico, among others … Played 10 games in 2017, recording 23 tackles with two sacks and five tackles for loss.

Charlie Ross: 6-0, 160 lb freshman wide receiver. As a senior, led Culver City with 13 receiving touchdowns in nine games played … Hauled in 29 passes for 576 yards overall – an average of nearly 20 yards per catch … Has 12 receiving touchdowns as a junior and tallied nearly 1,600 all-purpose yards in his career … Chose Nevada over a number of schools, including offers from four other MW teams.

Kevin Scott: 6-5, 315 lb junior transfer offensive lineman. Los Angeles product signed with USC and spent two seasons on the roster with the Trojans before transferring to Arizona Western for the 2017 season for the Matadors … Played 10 games in 2017, recording 13 tackles with 1.5 sacks.

Toa Taua: 5-10, 190 lb freshman running back. Rushed for more than 4,600 yards and 73 touchdowns during his prolific high school career … As a senior, rushed for 1,673 yards and 26 touchdowns in leading Lompoc to an 11-1 record … Had 1,777 yards rushing and 28 touchdowns as a junior … Was a two-way standout at Lompoc High, amassing nearly 200 career tackles and 8.5 sacks in his career on the defensive side … Younger brother of Wolf Pack great Vai Taua, who is a special teams analyst for Nevada … Another brother, Ainuu, plays football at UCLA.

Fanon Vines: 6-5, 220 lb sophomore transfer defensive lineman. Ohio native played one season at Coffeyville (Kans.) CC and has three years of eligibility remaining with the Wolf Pack … Played in 11 games for the Red Ravens, recording 24 tackles with a sack, a fumble recovery and an interception … Two-sport athlete who also played basketball at Woodward High School in Cincinnati.

Cole Watts: 6-8, 280 lb freshman offensive lineman. Was a first-team all-region and first-team all-state selection for Orem HS ... Led his team to the 2017 Utah state championship ... Two-sport athlete who also plays basketball for the Tigers.

Hayden Werbeckes: 6-5, 220 lb freshman tight end from Galena High School. Was an all-conference selection at Galena High School in Reno ... Caught 13 passes for 264 yards and two touchdowns as a senior ... Two-player who also started at defensive end, recording 32 tackles, including 12 for a loss ... Father, Tom, played at Nevada in the 1990s and his uncle, Jim, played at Nevada in the 1980s.
