Law Enforcement officers are responding to a News 4 On Your Side investigation that revealed the sophistication of fake IDs.

They're warning fellow police officers and deputies how technology can pass off fake IDs as the real thing.

For $100, News 4 purchased a fake ID from China and showed it to Reno Police Officer Tim Broadway. He said officers are very aware fake IDs are out there, but Broadway said he was very surprised by the quality of the fake ID News 4 bought.

After the interview for the story, Broadway sent an e-mail to staff at the Reno Police Department to be on the lookout for these new IDs. He pointed out the subtle difference between the real and fake IDs, including different font and spacing on the fake ID.

Soon after the investigation aired, Bob Harmon, a spokesman for the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, said one of his detectives wanted to get a better look at the fake ID. He said the detective wanted to spread awareness among the deputies.
