RENO, Nev. (www.MyNews4.com & KRNV)
From the Ask Joe file, one of our viewers has a question about a popular local restaurant that has closed down.
Christine wrote in says she's wondering what happened to Joe's Diner at 6350 South Virginia Street? She says all of a sudden it was closed, the signs were removed and now there's a fence around it with heavy equipment nearby.
Here's what I found out:
Joe's Diner was located near the Home Depot on South Virginia Street. The site is now being redeveloped so some other businesses will be moving there in the future.
I checked with Michael Chaump in the City of Reno's business licensing department , he says Joe's Diner closed very recently, sometime in May or June. They had been there for almost 15 years in that location. Chaump says the business license was issued in November of 2001.
As for what the future holds Chaump says they have an application for a change of location and name to "MTO Fresh." The new location is at 4455 South Virginia Street in the former burger king site across from the convention center. I spoke with the owner, Joe Tayour, he told me MTO Fresh will be a specialty burger shop and he plans to open within a month, so you wont' have to wait too long to check it out.
