RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — UPDATED as of 12:15 p.m. on April 28
Nevada Humane Society Board President Kris Wells sent a statement to News 4 after our story aired saying "We were so excited to present our assessment last week, and our unexpected absence was as disappointing for us as it was for the others. Unfortunately, an unforeseen event occurred requiring our immediate and full attention. We are looking forward to fully present our assessment analysis at a future meeting."

ORIGINAL STORY
The Washoe County Regional Animal Services Advisory Board wants to question Nevada Humane Society (NHS) CEO Greg Hall about a growing number of complaints it has received from members of the public and former NHS employees.
The complaints cover a range of issues including shelter operations, personnel issues and finances, according to members of the Advisory Board.
I have also confirmed that the Nevada Attorney General's office has received a complaint outlining concerns about NHS board members being paid for services.
In 2021 News 4 reported that some NHS board members were paid tens of thousands of dollars. The board declined to comment on the payments at the time and would not explain what the process is for approving payments to NHS board members.
NHS also declined to provide News 4 with a copy of its bylaws for our 2021 story.
Members of the Regional Advisory Board had planned to question Hall at a recent meeting but they say they were informed at the last minute that he would not be there.
Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve said she was "very disappointed" that Hall was not at the meeting.

"I have a lot of requests, a lot of concerns," Schieve said during the meeting.
Neither Hall nor the president of the NHS board, Kris Wells, responded to questions from News 4.
Hall says NHS plans to release a statement soon in response.
The director of Washoe County Animal Services, Shyanne Schull, told me the meeting has been tentatively rescheduled for May 15th.
