Reno, NEV — A News 4 viewer asked for an update on a deadly crash from 2019 where a homeless woman was struck and killed by a Reno Fire truck.
63-year old Charlene McMaster died in the crash. According to a lawsuit that was filed, McMaster was in the crosswalk when she was struck by the fire truck.
Reno firefighter Rosa Myers was charged with one count of vehicular manslaughter following the crash but after several delays in the criminal proceedings the case was dismissed in November of 2022.
The Sparks City Attorney's Office says a civil settlement was reached in October of 2022 and the case was dismissed shortly after that. Because it happened under the previous administration headed by former Sparks City Attorney Chet Adams, the City Attorney's Office told me they can't comment on why the case was dropped or whether the current administration would have handled things differently.
The city of Reno says Myers is back on the job as a Reno firefighter.
