RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — The rush of Election Day 2022 is over, but it's still too early to call major races such as Senate and governor because there are still tens of thousands of mail ballots left to be counted in Nevada.
Washoe County election officials posted results from an additional 11,000 mail ballots Friday evening.
The batch helped Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto pick up roughly 1,100 votes on GOP challenger Adam Laxalt, pulling her within 800 votes statewide.

After Friday's batch, 90,233 of 103,500 total mail ballots have been counted, leaving roughly 13,000 ballots, not all of which will be counted because of various issues such as spoiled ballots, suspended ballots or failure to cure a signature issue.
Washoe County election officials posted results from an additional 18,000 mail ballots Thursday evening.
The batch was favorable to Democrats, helping push Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto to within 10 thousand votes of GOP challenger Adam Laxalt statewide.
In total, Washoe County has received roughly 103,500 mail ballots. After Thursday night's batch, 79,000 or so have been tallied, leaving roughly 23,000 mail ballots outstanding.
Not all of those remaining will be counted because of signature verification issues, spoiled ballots, suspended ballots, etc.
About 200 mail ballots were delivered to the Washoe County registrar of voters office Thursday morning, according to a county spokesperson.
That figure doesn't significantly alter the estimate calculated below — that there are still roughly 40,000 outstanding ballots in Washoe County.
For comparison, 4,000 mail ballots arrived to the registrar's office on Wednesday.
Over 20,600 additional mail ballots were processed, counted and tabulated in a results update late Wednesday night from the registrar of voters office.
Interim registrar Jamie Rodriguez said Wednesday afternoon it would be a 'fairly minimal' update, with a much bigger batch of results to be posted late Thursday.
The 20,600 ballots posted Wednesday leaves roughly 40,000 outstanding ballots in Washoe County, though Rodriguez said Wednesday that 'a lot' are spoiled and some are in adjudication.
It's unclear how many of those mail ballots won't be counted, but a significant number of mail ballots remain.
Both incumbent Democrats, Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto and Gov. Steve Sisolak, got a boost from the mail ballot dump late Wednesday, as Democrats have consistently outvoted Republicans by mail.
Washoe County interim registrar of voters Jamie Rodriguez told reporters in a news conference that 4,000 more mail ballots arrived at the registrar's office Wednesday.
That brings the total number of outstanding mail ballots in Washoe County to more than 61,000, though Rodriguez clarified that 'a lot' are spoiled ballots and some are in adjudication.
It's unclear how many of the 61,000 outstanding mail ballots won't be counted for those reasons, but a significant number of mail ballots are still yet to be tabulated.
Rodriguez said the registrar will post another batch of results Wednesday evening, though it will be a 'fairly minimal' update. A much larger batch of results is expected to be posted Thursday.
Update as of 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9
As of 11:00 a.m. on Nov. 9, the Washoe County registrar of voters office reported it has processed and counted 40,166 of the 79,351 mail ballots that were received prior to Election Day.
That leaves 39,185 mail ballots received prior to Election Day still to be counted. In addition, the registrar of voters office reported receiving 18,479 mail ballots on Election Day.
Here is the party breakdown of the 18,479 mail ballots received on Election Day:
In total, that leaves 57,664 mail ballots that have arrived at the county registrar's office still to be counted.
However, that may not be the entire universe of outstanding mail ballots — mail ballots postmarked by Election Day and received by the registrar's office by Saturday, Nov. 12 are legal votes and must be counted.
So in addition to the 57,664 mail ballots currently at the registrar's office and being counted, there could be several thousand more ballots currently in the mail that will be counted later this week.
