Peek-a-bear: Video shows South Carolina girl playing game with grizzly bear
A 6-year-old Florence girl had some fun with a grizzly bear on Wednesday.
A video taken by Meagan Sawyer shows her 6-year-old daughter, Riley, playing peek-a-boo with a grizzly bear at the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, South Carolina.
She said the family often goes to the zoo and "the bears always seem to be really sweet and more playful at the end of the day."
With that in mind, Riley wanted to make another visit to the bears before they left the zoo for the day and "the bear was really interested in her," Meagan Sawyer said.
"She has a little 8-month-old sister she loves playing peekaboo with and she just started playing it with the bear," she said.
The 6-year-old was "amazed" that the huge bear was interested in playing too.
Meagan Sawyer said her daughter loved the interaction and thought it was really funny.
"I'm sure she will make sure we see plenty of the bears each time we go back."
On Friday, ABC15's Tonya Brown spoke with Riley and her mom about the fun experience, as well as the reaction to the video after they shared it.
"He was like up against the glass, like in the middle. We were playing peek a boo and he was like. We went to the left, then the right, then the left, then the right," she said.
Her mom said she was surprised at how much reaction the video of the experience has generated.
"It has a gone a little crazier than I imagined. It's cool," she said.
Riley said she's just eager to get back to the zoo to have some more fun.
"I want to play peek a boo with him again."
The family said they got a membership to the zoo, so Riley will definitely be able to visit her bear buddy again.
