CARSON CITY, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — Traffic deaths in Washoe County were down 20 percent in 2019 compared with 2018, while the number of pedestrians who died rose by 23 percent.
According to the Nevada Department of Public Safety, 35 people died in Washoe County crashes last year compared to 44 in 2018.
However, 16 pedestrians were killed in 2019 compared with 13 in 2018.
Statewide, highway fatalities were down 14 percent in 2019 from the previous year as 284 people died last year while 329 died in 2018.
Fatal crashes statewide were also down last year by ten percent from 2018. Clark County saw a decrease of 20 percent in the number of fatalities.
