V&T Railroad opens for the summer season on May 26

The Virginia & Truckee Railroad captures a moment in time from Nevada's history (Sinclair Broadcast Group)

A long-waited opening for the Virginia and Truckee Railroad is finally here Saturday, May 26 at the Virginia City Depot on 165 F Street.

Seven narrated steam and diesel trains will be available for the public to ride through the hills of Comstock, from Virginia City to Gold Hill and back.

The Virginia & Truckee Railroad is the most famous of all American Short Line railroads. Construction of the railroad began in 1869 and was used to haul millions of dollars in gold and silver ore from the mines deep below Virginia City.
