UNR scientist studying Carr Fire "tornado" that triggered 143 mph winds

A physics professor at the University of Nevada, Reno says intense fire behavior triggered a tornado inside the Carr Fire burning in Redding, Calif.

Neil Lareau, who is a professor in the physics department at Nevada, says the fire tornado had 143 mph winds, making it equivalent to an EF-3 tornado.
