Two people were safely rescued after a fire broke out inside a Carson City apartment on Wednesday morning.

Fire Chief Sean Slamon says crews responded to a structure at an apartment complex on Pheasant Drive shortly before 11 a.m. on May 16.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a second-floor apartment heavily engulfed in flames.

Two people were taken to the hospital after being rescued from the unit and a third was medically evaluated on scene.

The blaze ruined a total of four units. Slamon estimates hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
