Three units uninhabitable after fire breaks out in apartment complex
The Reno Fire Department has knocked down a fire in an apartment building on North Virginia Street between East 2nd and East 1st Streets Thursday evening.
According to Reno Fire Department battalion chief Mike Piltcher, firefighters received a call around 5:30 p.m. about a fire on the 14th floor of Siegel Suites Nevadan. The fire was contained to one room and was quickly knocked down.
Piltcher said the sprinklers in the apartment complex helped knock down the fire in 12 minutes. Two additional units are uninhabitable due to water damage.
No injuries have been reported.
Lanes in both directions on South Virgingia Street between 2nd Street and 1st Street were closed for about two hours.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
