RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — According to the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office, an inmate who committed suicide at the Washoe County Jail on Jan. 10 by hanging himself has been identified as 56-year-old Morris Reed of Carson City.
According to the sheriff’s office, at 10:53 a.m. detention facility deputies were notified of a possible medical emergency inside one of the cells.
When deputies arrived at the cell they located a non-responsive adult male inmate on the floor.
Deputies immediately began life-saving measures until medical staff arrived. The inmate was declared deceased by medical staff at 11:25 a.m.
Officials say, the inmate was alone in his cell at the time of the incident.
