NIXON, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — Human remains were found inside a car that had been set on fire north of Nixon late Thursday night, according to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office.

According to a statement, members of the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District responded to a car fire reported just before midnight on S.R. 447.

The remains were found once the fire was extinguished, and the sheriff's office was alerted and is taking over the investigation.

Deputies believe the car is possibly a Ford sedan, small to mid-size of unknown color, though there is extensive damage to it.

They also noticed what they call distinct rims on the tires, providing a photo of similar rims.
