Sheriff's cruiser involved in apparent head-on collision in north Reno

A sheriff's vehicle was apparently involved in a head-on collision with a four-door sedan Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018.

A Washoe County sheriff's vehicle was involved in a head-on collision with a car in north Reno Tuesday night.

The two vehicles were sitting on N. Virginia Street near Panther Drive and showed front-end damage when a News 4-Fox 11 crew arrived on scene.

A member of the Reno Police Department said the dark-colored sedan was heading the wrong way leading up to the crash, and that alcohol might be a factor. No serious injuries were reported.

It's not yet clear who the lead investigating agency will be due to the involvement of a law enforcement vehicle.

The northbound side of Virginia remains open, with one lane of the southbound side open until the vehicles can be towed.
