According to the Reno Police Department, Madelyn Lingenfelter remains were found around 2:30 p.m on Monday, Dec. 10.

Police say her remains were found by people looking for a Christmas tree in the area off Mt. Rose Highway south of Sunridge Drive.

Her body was found between half a mile and three-quarters of a mile away from her car, which was abandoned at the Tannenbaum Alpine Event Center.

Washoe County Sheriff, along with volunteers, covered 300 miles of very dense wilderness over the course of 4 days.

The Sheriff's Office says that the terrain was very difficult to traverse, let alone find a person, because of the heavy brush and thousands of dead logs.
