RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) — The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony is among 17 Native American tribes in Nevada that will receive more than $15 million in grants from the U.S. government.
The grant money from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is distributed each year to eligible Indian tribes.
The Reno-Sparks Indian colony will receive $1.3 million in 2016.
Stacey Montooth, community information officer for the colony, said the money will be used to maintain and develop new housing for tribal members.
