72-year-old man dies after being hit by semi-truck in north Reno on Monday
UPDATE: According to the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office, 72-year-old Eugene Bowman was killed after being hit by a semi-truck in Reno on Monday, Oct. 15.
His last known address was Bishop, Calif.
The crash occurred at the intersection of N. Virginia St. and N. McCarran Blvd. at around 7 p.m.
At 7:25 p.m. Reno Police received call of a body laying in front of Our Mother of Sorrows cemetery. They found the body of Bowman on South Virginia St.
According to police, the initial investigation indicates the pedestrian was in the travel lane when he was struck by a commercial truck traveling south on N. Virginia St.
The truck driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
REMSA responded and began working on the victim. However, the pedestrian was pronounced dead shortly after, despite resuscitation efforts.
The Reno Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team is now investigating the crash.
Police say neither speed nor impairment appear to be a factor in the crash. The victim's name is to be released once next of kin is notified.
