2 Sparks Police officers involved in fatal officer-involved shooting; suspect identified
Reno Police have identified the man killed in an officer-involved shooting on Wednesday night involving multiple Sparks Police officers, according to Sgt. KC Myers of the Reno Police Department.
Shortly before 10 p.m. on January 24, Sparks Police initiated a traffic stop in the 1100 block of 15th Street near Rock and Oddie boulevards. Police say the traffic stop preceded the officer-involved shooting, but no other details were available.
The suspect involved has been identified as 27-year-old Humberto Vera-Munoz. Vera-Munoz was pronounced dead on scene, Myers said in a statement.
As part of the Regional Officer-Involved Shoot Protocol, detectives with the Reno Police Department and the Washoe County Sheriff's Office responded to conduct the investigation. The Reno Police Department will be the lead investigating agency.
The status of the officers involved is unknown at this time.
