Reno police arrest suspect in possible connection to 522 separate counts of graffiti
The Reno Police Department said Friday that a suspect is behind bars in possible connection to 522 separate counts of graffiti.
27-year-old Matthew Rivera was located and taken into custody on September 20, according to a statement from RPD.
Police estimate that the value of damage to private property is upwards of $63,000.
Police said Nevada law allows separate cases of graffiti to be consolidated, elevating the severity of the crime from a misdemeanor to a felony.
The Reno Police Department says they have a full-time detective position dedicated to graffiti investigations.
All graffiti has since been painted over and cleaned by the City of Reno Graffiti Enforcement Team.
RPD encourages the public to report graffiti through Reno Direct 775-334-2099 or Secret Witness 775-322-4900.
