Body of Reno man found dumped on the side of Highway 70 after suspected drug overdose
A Reno man was found dead on the side of Highway 70 between Vinton and Chilcoot, according to the Plumas County Sheriff's Office.
On Nov. 11 at approximately 4 p.m., deputies received reports of a deceased person on the north side of Highway 70 by a passing motorist.
During the course of the investigation, authorities determined that the body had been recently dumped on the side of the road.
The male was identified as 44-year-old Anthony Richins of Reno.
Preliminary autopsy results indicate that Richins possibly died as a result of a heroin overdose. Toxicology results are pending.
Police have determined friends of the 44-year-old Reno man dumped his body out of the car when after he suffered a medical event and died after injecting heroin while driving from Reno to Loyalton, California.
The investigation is ongoing.
