Reno man arrested in neighborhood shooting that sent one person to hospital

One person is hospitalized and a man is in police custody after a shooting in a Reno neighborhood.

Reno police officers responded to a neighborhood fight the 1600 block of Haddock Street at about 2:30 on Saturday afternoon.

When they arrived, they found a victim with a gunshot wound to the lower leg. That person was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their injuries are considered minor.

Officers on scene arrested 34-year-old Jaryd Bernabei of Reno. He faces charges of battery with a deadly weapon and possession of a short wheel shotgun.

Reno Police Department officials said a Regional Gang Unit responded to the incident, but they do not believe the shooting was gang-related.
