RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — An investigation is underway after a body was found along the Truckee River near Cottonwood Park on Saturday, according to officials.
Washoe County Sheriff's Office spokesman Bob Harmon said that a swimmer was in the river near Spice Island Drive and spotted what appeared to be a body.
Authorities were notified at about 1:10 p.m. Harmon said sheriff's deputies, Reno police and Sparks police responded and found the body of a male on the riverbank on the south side of the river.
No other information regarding the male's identity or the circumstances surrounding his death were immediately available.
The spokesman said the sheriff's office was leading the investigation, which was in the early stages Saturday afternoon.
