Reno couple arrested after body of 5-year-old girl found in Sacramento storage facility
A Reno couple is behind bars after the body of a 5-year-old girl was found in a storage unit in Sacramento, according to the Reno Police Department.
Sgt. KC Myers says a joint investigation between Reno and Sparks police revealed that a 5-year-old girl was killed inside an apartment on the 2400 block of Havard Way in Reno.
Police linked the body of the girl to Reno couple Tyler Anderson and Averyauna Anderson.
Myers says within days of the girl's death, the Andersons rented a vehicle to transport the child's body from Reno to a storage facility in Sacramento. The body was found on Tuesday, May 15.
Tyler Anderson, 23, was located by police in Sacramento and arrested in connection to this case. He is pending extradition to Reno for charges of child neglect causing substantial bodily harm.
Averyauna Anderson, who is not the girl's biological mother, was located and arrested in Reno. She is being held at the Washoe County Detention Facility on child neglect charges.
The exact cause of death is pending autopsy results, however, Myers says investigators determined the child had been severely neglected prior to her death.
