Reno community rallies behind four children who's mother lost battle to cancer

Evoke Fitness held a fundraiser Saturday morning to raise money for four children who now have to get through the holiday season without parents.

Their mother, Barbara Owens, was a widow when she died Thursday from pancreatic cancer.

She received the diagnosis in October after already beating breast cancer.

With the combined proceeds from $20 admission tickets, a raffle and silent auction, $9,500 was raised for the four children.

Anyone interested in making donations to the family can do so through Umpqua Bank. Any branch can accept donations made to Barbara Owens or #TeamBarbara.
