Renewable Energy Promotion Initiative to be added to Nevada ballot in November
Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske announced on Thursday that the Renewable Energy Promotion Initiative will be Question 6 on November's ballot.
Cegavske's announcement certifies that Nevadans for Clean Energy Future submitted more than 112,544 signatures from registered voters throughout the state's 17 counties.
Question 6 is spearheaded by Nevadans for Clean Energy Future, if passed, it would require the state of Nevada to double its Renewable Portfolio Standard to 50 percent by 2030.
“This is a landmark day for Nevada’s families, Nevada’s air, and Nevada’s economy,” said Katie Robbins, campaign manager of Nevadans for a Clean Energy Future. “For far too long, we have done too little to take advantage of our immense solar and geothermal resources. For far too long, we have inhaled too many fossil fuel emissions. We will change this in November when Nevadans vote YES on Question 6 to guarantee that at least half of our power comes from renewables and begin building a better future for the economic and physical health of everyone in our state.”
