Open enrollment for health insurance has begun
Nevada Health Link will be at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center November 1st from noon-7 p.m. to assist those who have questions or want assistance signing up for health insurance.
Open enrollment for 2018 health insurance plans starts today, but a major change is in effect as the enrollment period is only 45 days. December 15th is the final day to enroll as the enrollment period was cut in half from 90 days.
This could have a major effect on how many people sign up as it could cut enrollment by up to 7%, according to S & P Global ratings.
Open enrollment is the period where can people sign up for health insurance to find the coverage that fits you. Coverage begins January 1st.
If you don't have health care through a job, Medicare or Medicaid, Nevada Health Link can assist you with coverage.
One of the other big changes include the dropping of four insurance carriers to two by the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange. Many consumers won't have Anthem or Prominence Insurance plans anymore. Instead, those who had insurance with those companies will be enrolled into a similar plan automatically.
