Nuggets Watch: Reno teen honored on Nevada Senate floor

Carter Wilkerson, left, and Nevada Sen. Aaron D. Ford at the Nevada Legislature on Friday, April 28, 2017.

He's so close he can taste it.

Reno teenager Carter Wilkerson, who's quest for a year's supply of free chicken nuggets quickly went viral, is closing in on breaking Ellen DeGeneres' claim as the retweet champion. The Bishop Manogue student currently has more than 3.3 million retweets, sitting roughly 78,000 RTs away from Ellen's star-studded Oscar selfie.

Wilkerson's nugget-seeking venture has led to an appearance on "Ellen," support from NASCAR driver Michael McDowell, and an upcoming #NuggsForCarter charity event at the Peppermill Resort Casino.

And now he's entered the political sphere -- well, kind of.

On Friday, April 28, Wilkerson made an appearance at the Nevada Legislature, taking to the Nevada Senate floor to help promote and support adoption.

Wilkerson stopped by for a visit on Mornings on Fox 11 and will also be featured studio guest on News 4 at 4 p.m. Friday, April 28.
