One person is in custody after an officer-involved shooting in old southwest Reno on Tuesday afternoon, according to Sgt. Ron Chalmers.

Chalmers says officers responded to an armed suicidal person in the area of Marsh and Nixon avenues in the afternoon hours on March 20.

Police negotiated with the person for several hours ultimately resulting in the officer-involved shooting.

Streets in the area are expected to be shut down for most of the night as police conclude their investigation, says Chalmers.

Authorities confirm the suspect involved is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The Sparks Police Department will be the lead agency throughout the investigation.
