Nevada Highway Patrol says a 36-year-old Sparks man was killed when his motorcycle collided with a car on I-80 in Reno last week.

In a statement, NHP says a 1998 black Pontiac entered westbound I-80 from southbound I-580 at about 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2.

A 2015 red Yamaha motorcycle was heading west on I-80 in the second lane from the far left.

The driver of the Pontiac tried to change lanes but lost control of the car. The Pontiac came to a stop in the left two lanes facing south and in the path of the motorcycle, according to NHP.

The rider, identified as Brenden Michael Richter, hit the left side of the Pontiac and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver of the Pontiac was treated and released.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Trooper Doug Hildebrand at 775-687-9617 or dhildebrand@dps.state.nv.us regarding case #180200163.
