Nevada organizations have been awarded a total of $4.65 million in grants to combat homelessness among veterans and their families.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that the Department of Veteran Affairs' Supportive Services for Veteran Families program announced the funding Tuesday.

The grants are aimed to help low-income veteran's families maintain stability in their current homes or to move to permanent housing.

The program is in its fourth year and serves about 1,000 veterans.
