Nevada Department of Wildlife to stock Truckee River with more than 6,500 rainbow trout

Some outdoor lovers might call it Christmas in August!

The Nevada Department of Wildlife will be stocking the Truckee River with more than 6,500 rainbow trout.

NDOW officials say water levels receded significantly over the summer months, levels are finally high enough for restocking.

Crews with the Mason Valley Fish Hatchery will stock from the bridges throughout Reno and Sparks including Fisherman's Park, Booth St. and Virginia St. n

The rainbow trout will average 8 to 10 inches, according to NDOW.
