Jake Dalton, a native of Northern Nevada who twice made the U.S. Olympic gymnastics team, has announced his retirement from competition.

Dalton, 25, made the announcement in an interview with Inside Gymnastics, saying he "could kind of feel my body going downhill."

He competed with the men's gymnastics teams in the 2012 Olympic games in London and 2016 games in Rio de Janeiro. He competed in college at the University of Oklahoma, and he's won several awards during his pro career, including the 2016 U.S. vault and floor exercise championship.

Dalton, who attended Spanish Springs High School, returned to Northern Nevada earlier this summer to train kids at Gymnastics Nevada in Sparks. The gym is owned by Dalton's parents.

At the time, Dalton told News 4-Fox 11 that he was "definitely a little tired," but that he was looking into possible events for the 2020 Olympics.

According to Inside Gymnastics, he is now focusing on helping manage the gyms in Reno and Sparks. He also has a "budding Youtube channel ... focused on health and fitness."
