Man found guilty in assault-related trial, faces up to 12 years in prison
The Third Judicial District Court in Yerington, Nevada has found Florencio Brito guilty in an assault-related trial on Tuesday, January 8.
The one-day trial found Brito guilty on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, according to Lyon County District Attorney Stephen B. Rye. The attorney said Brito was not found guilty on one count of assault with a deadly weapon.
Brito's case started on May 2, 2018 when he became involved in an officer-involved shooting.
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office says Brito made threats to kill those at a property with a screwdriver and also threatened to harm police officers. He was detained by deputies shortly after.
Brito faces from one to 12 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
The Third Judicial District Court will sentence Florencio Brito on March 4, 2019.
