Inmate stabbed to death at Northern Nevada Correctional Facility in Carson City
An inmate at the Northern Nevada Correctional Facility in Carson City was stabbed to death by another inmate on Tuesday, according to a department of corrections spokeswoman.
Brooke Santina says the incident was reported shortly before 4 p.m. on May 15.
An inmate reportedly doing a life sentence for first-degree murder allegedly attacked another inmate using a prison made weapon.
The victim, Thayer Joseph Burton, was attacked and stabbed in the hallway area of the housing unit of the prison.
According to the Nevada Department of Corrections, multiple correctional officers and staff responded immediately and attempted live saving measures on Burton.
A Care Flight air ambulance was ordered but Burton was pronounced dead on scene.
Burton was admitted into the Carson City detention facility from Clark County in 2008 after he was sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit a violent crime. and robbery.
