Homeless youth in Reno receive donations, haircuts at 'point in time count' event
The Department of Urban Housing and Development requires an annual count of homeless persons ages 18-24.
The Nevada Youth Empowerment Project and Our Center coordinated the "point in time" count on Thursday.
They counted on "behalf of the City of Reno, who submits the Northern Nevada continuum housing grant to HUD," according to Monica DuPea, with NYEP.
They counted from midnight Friday to midnight Saturday.
Youth gathered at the Eddy House where they completed surveys about their living conditions, received free haircuts from Great Clips stylists and received donated items from the community.
