Got nuggets? Nevada teen on quest for free chicken for a year; Ellen DeGeneres chimes in

One northern Nevada high schooler is trying to break a record -- all in the name of free food.

Bishop Manogue High School junior Carter Wilkerson tweeted at Wendy's fast food chain on Wednesday April 5 asking how many retweets it would take for a year of free chicken nuggets.

The answer they gave him? 18 million.

As of Thursday, April 13, Wilkerson was up to 2.8 million retweets.

Ellen DeGeneres' star-studded selfie from the Oscar's in 2014 holds the record for the most retweets, sitting at 3.3 million.

And she's determined to remain the retweet title.

Ellen on Thursday talked about Wilkerson's quest for chicken nuggets during her daytime talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

"This kid is on my heels," Ellen said. "Carter, stop it right now -- you mess with the bull, you get the horns."

Ellen, however, offered a solution for her to retain her title and for Wilkerson to reach his goal.

"I encourage everyone who retweets Carter's tweet to also retweet my Oscar selfie," she said.

And if the retweets bear fruit (err, nuggets)?

Ellen said she'll give Wilkerson a year's supply of "Ellen" underwear and a 55-inch TCL Roku TV.

When Wilkerson crossed the million mark last week, a Wendy's spokesperson replied on Twitter, "officially shook."
