A very special and unique Honor Flight departed from the Reno-Tahoe International Airport on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016.

Forty-five Native American veterans from northern Nevada and California are participating in the first-ever all Native American Honor Flight.

The veterans are heading to Washington D.C., where they will visit numerous historical monuments in the nation's capital.

Our very own Ryan Kern has the privilege of joining the veterans on their journey. He will continue to bring us the latest from the trip.

The flight is expected to return back to Reno on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016.
