Man arrested after road rage incident leads to crash on Vassar and Terminal in Reno

A man has been arrested after a road rage incident ended in an extrication crash at the intersection of Vassar Street and Terminal Way in Reno on Sunday, May 20.

The suspect, 28-year-old Cody Douglas was treated for minor injuries and arrested for child endangerment, reckless driving and failing to obey a red traffic light.

Douglas is expected to additionally be charged with hit and run and other traffic charges by the Nevada Highway Patrol for those crimes that occurred on Interstate-580.

The road rage started about 10:20 a.m. on I-580 prior to the crash, according to the Reno Police Department.

Authorities say two cars were pursuing one another when a black Chevy Tahoe ran the red light at the intersection of Vassar Street and Terminal Way striking a white passenger car in the area causing it to roll on its side.

Officials say the white vehicle that was struck was not involved in the road rage incident on the highway.

The female driver of the vehicle that was struck had to be extricated from her vehicle by Reno Fire, and was transported to a local hospital with serious, but non life threatening injuries.

A pregnant female who was a passenger in the suspect vehicle was also transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The suspect vehicle was also occupied by three young children who were not injured.
