One person has been taken to a hospital after a car rolled over and crash into the lobby of a motel in Reno Friday night, according to a fire official.

A member of the Reno Fire Department said they received witness reports that the car was driving on northbound Wells Avenue at a high speed, with the driver on his cell phone, just before 6:10 p.m.

The driver appeared to lose control of the car when reaching 6th Street, rolling over and hitting a light pole, fire hydrant and tree before crashing into the lobby of America's Best Travel Inn.

The official said the driver was able to get out of the car on his own, and he has been taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.

Nobody else was in the car, according to the official, and nobody in the motel had to evacuate. There is extensive damage to the lobby, however, with the rear end of the car inside it.

In a statement released later Friday, Reno Police Sgt. Joe Lever said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.

The driver is expected to survive his injuries, Lever said, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Reno Police at 334-2115, Secret Witness at 322-4900, www.secretwitness,com, or text the tip to 847411 (TIP 411) keyword - SW.
