Demolition for Reno's Masonic Building
Demolition is underway on Reno's oldest commercial building.
Reno's Masonic building on Commercial Row is being demolished after being vacant since the 1970's.
Owners of the building say they have spent a lot of money to keep it around and finally decided to take it down.
The plan is to replace it with a new hotel which will be part of the Whitney Peak Hotel property.
“It will be about 90-100 room extended stay product. We have found a lot of success in Reno so it’s just time for us to expand on what we already built and just continue the beautification of downtown Reno”, says Eric Olson, general manager of the Whitney Peak Hotel.
The demolition will take 6 to 8 weeks, once it’s done construction will begin on the new hotel and should be completed by 2020.
