Crews mopping up Brenda Fire in Washoe Valley

Crews are mopping up a 632-acre brush fire that started Friday afternoon near Brenda Way in northeast Washoe Valley, according to Truckee Meadows Fire.

All air resources were released and all evacuations and road closures have been lifted.

Evacuations had been issued for homes from Brenda Way to Spicer Street, as well as Skinner Drive to US-395 A, which was temporarily closed Friday evening.

The Brenda Fire, which started at around 3:15 p.m. Friday, July 14, has been reduced to 632 acres after being reported at 1,200 acres Friday night, according to Sierra Front.

Officials say the Bureau of Land Management has assumed command of the fire.
