The Reno Fire Department is investigating the cause of a structure fire that firefighters knocked down Thursday afternoon in 100-degree heat.
Crews responded at about 1:05 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, to a structure fire on the 200 block of Ashley Way in south Reno. There, crews found a single family home with heavy smoke and fire burning between 25 to 50 percent of the structure.
Officials say the fire was contained with the majority of the damage occurring in the front two bedrooms. The house was unoccupied at the time and no injuries were reported.
Reno Fire says three adults lived in the home and have been displaced due to the fire.
The American Red Cross is assisting the residents with temporary housing and essentials, officials say.
