U.S. Rep. Jacky Rosen, D-Nevada, says the Justice Department should respect the rights of Nevada and other states when it comes to issues like marijuana.

Rosen, who spoke to News 4-Fox 11 on Friday, is running to unseat Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nevada. Heller is also facing a primary challenger in Danny Tarkanian.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced earlier this month that he would rescind an Obama-era memo that allowed legal marijuana to flourish in states that had legalized its use and sale.

The Congresswoman said cannabis law is a matter of states' rights, and that people in Nevada voted for both medical and recreational marijuana.

Rosen also said she plans to sponsor a bill on Capitol Hill that would limit federal involvement when it comes to states' power to legalize marijuana.
