GARDNERVILLE, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) -- Friends and loved ones gathered Monday to mourn the deaths of two Gardnerville women killed in their homes in a case that has put an entire community on edge.
Around 50 people went to Lampe Park to remember the victims.
Investigators say 56-year-old Connie Koontz was found dead late Wednesday or early Thursday morning.
Only a few days later, 74-year-old Sophia Renken was found dead in her home about a mile away.
Investigators believe the two cases are connected.
The Douglas County Sheriff recommends that residents secure their homes and remain vigilant.
