CHP: Rock climber injured in 50-foot fall near Donner Pass Road

The California Highway Patrol is reporting that a climber fell about 50 feet from a rock face near Donner Pass Road in the Rainbow Bridge area Saturday morning.

According to authorities, at around 11 a.m. Saturday, June 24, CHP received a call for assistance from Truckee Fire Department regarding a man that had fallen while climbing Donner Summit.

The crew learned that a 68-year-old male had fallen 50 feet while repelling the summit.

CHP says the climber sustained "very serious" injuries and needed to be flown to a trauma center quickly.

No word on the climber's condition.
