Firefighters have almost fully contained a 2,070-acre wildfire north of Bishop that sparked Sunday, Feb. 18.

The Pleasant Fire broke out in Inyo County on Pleasant Valley Dam Road and Highway 395 just before 2:15 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18.

The fire was 98 percent contained by about 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 25. Cal Fire said more accurate mapping downgraded the size of the fire from an earlier report of 2,800 acres.

Authorities confirmed evacuations were in place Monday morning in surrounding areas, but most of those evacuations were lifted by the evening.

By Tuesday, the evacuation center was closed, with Cal Fire saying it was no longer necessary.
